I curated a selection of the top 5 most dog-friendly restaurants that I visited in the neighborhood of Villa Crespo, CABA
Buenos Aires has proven to be a delightful experience, exceeding our expectations as an incredibly dog-friendly city. My pup has been a welcome companion virtually everywhere, except for a few naturally restricted spots. While bidding farewell to the charming neighborhood of Villa Crespo, I'm eager to explore other areas, yet I must acknowledge the hidden gems this locale offered.
Join me as I unveil the top 5 most dog-friendly places discovered in Villa Crespo, each with its unique charm and appeal.
Saibhir - Brewery/cervecería
Location: Serrano 695, C1414 CABA
Hours: 16:00 - 00:00/03:00 depending on if its a weekend or weekday.
This industrial-themed establishment graces a corner in the up-and-coming area of Villa Crespo. Whether you prefer the lively atmosphere outside for weekend people-watching or the cozy interior, where yes, dogs are welcomed with open arms, this spot caters to all. The friendly staff delights in the presence of adorable pups. As for the drinks, I highly recommend the Dunkel; each beer is priced at $2,000 ARS (approximately $2 USD at the current exchange rate). Although they were out of the Schwarzbier during my visit, every beer I tried was delightful. The full kitchen offers a range of options, from burgers and sandwiches to appetizers and pizzas. Che Bonche
Location: Serrano 701, C1427 CABA
Hours: google said they open at 17:00 (5pm), but they told us more like 18:00/18:30 because they were still setting up... so evening time.
There are two locations, conveniently situated right across the street from each other. While one is notably larger, we opted to experience the charm of the cozier venue. Both spaces offer inviting tables both inside and outside, and the best part – your furry friend is welcome indoors too! This pet-friendly establishment even has a dedicated dog menu for your canine companion. The beers and burgers lived up to expectations, and the onion rings were surprisingly tasty, though I must admit the absence of ranch was a minor disappointment. A big shout-out to our attentive waitress, Sol, who added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. As a unique touch, she presented us with a cup of dice, challenging us to roll five matching numbers for a chance at a free bill—a fun but elusive feat. And for the tech/freedom enthusiasts, here's a surprise – you can settle your tab in Bitcoin! This was a first-hand encounter with the cryptocurrency payment trend, and it certainly added an extra layer of intrigue to our dining experience!
Salgado
Location: Juan Ramírez de Velasco 401, C1414 CABA
Hours: 09:00-11:30
This charming Italian eatery, often bustling with dinner rush crowds from 20:00 to 23:00, transforms into a standing-room-only haven. To avoid the evening rush, I opted for a leisurely lunch. Dogs are welcomed outside, complete with water bowls for your furry companions. The pasta, particularly the Macarrones, is an absolute delight—rich and bursting with flavor. While my meal took a bit longer than expected (around 45 minutes), the staff went above and beyond to rectify the situation. It seemed there was a minor hiccup in processing my order, possibly due to a distraction while preparing my tea (my theory). To compensate, they expedited my meal, threw in a complimentary dessert, and waived the tea charge. Despite this slight hiccup, I recommend this spot, especially given the delicious food. I'll keep you posted on any future visits, and if another issue arises, it will certainly be reflected in the blog update.
La Dignidad
Location: Aguirre 29, C1414 CABA
Hours: 10:00-00:00, closed Sunday and Monday
Specials: Tuesday-Friday (meal of the day + a drink + a dessert for $2,900ARS (roughly $3USD) WHATTTT?!
This charming little restaurant, nestled on a tranquil street, boasts incredibly friendly staff. We received a warm welcome to choose any available outdoor table that suited my dog, complete with a thoughtful offer to bring him water. The beer recommendations were spot-on, with a standout being an artisanal dark beer that quickly became my favorite in BsAs. The culinary experience was equally impressive, with the meal of the day featuring a generous serving of pork chop accompanied by veggies and a delectable mustard sauce, all priced at $3,000 ARS (roughly $3 USD). It's undeniably the most budget-friendly and satisfying option, delivering the best bang for your buck!
Mercat
Location: Thames 747, C1414 CABA
Hours: opens at 11:00/closing hours vary, closed on Monday
This hidden gem is a fascinating discovery! Picture an old factory transformed into a multi-layered indoor food court, featuring an array of pop-up restaurants. From Jewish cuisine and sandwich shops to a creperia, an entire Asian section, tea shops, and a bar with a cervecería—exploring all the options would easily span a couple of weeks. The attentive security guard noticed me with my dog outside and promptly assured me that dogs are warmly welcomed inside. This spot is perfect for a rainy day, offering a diverse range of food and drinks to savor. Notably, it's the only place where I've found an iced Chai tea, and it was absolutely fresh and delightful!
